The Red Sox didn’t miss going to the World Series, they missed winning the World Series. The caption should read either “haven’t been to the World Series in 18 years” (1986) or say “We have a chance to win our first World Series in…”
I blew that.

I had noticed the caption was wrong, and I was going to let it go. But then the same error was repeated in the text. I forget exactly where, but it was within 3 pages of the caption… I think it was the bottom corner of the odd-numbered page.
